Here’s why I Hate Fridays and You Should Too

Yes, you read that right and no, my boss didn’t bribe me to write this.

P.S. This is my first article on Medium, Be Kind.

Only in the most recent times, I have started loathing the idea of a Friday.

Stuck in this millennial body with an old school soul, I never understood the concept of Fridays or the ‘Living for the Weekend’ life. The idea itself is so flawed that corporates tried to celebrate it?

Hear me out:

Its super simple guys, I do not live for weekends because I live in each moment, even if that moment isn’t too good to pop champagne, even if it’s boring and even if it makes me cry a river. It might sound like belonging to a parallel universe, but it is very much a possibility in 2019. I am not saying their won’t be worse days anymore. This article or any magic wand doesn’t guarantee ‘Good Days only’ to you, but just being glad that there is a moment in life for you to experience emotions and it’s giving you an outlet to express them, is not too difficult.

Note: I didn’t climb any Mount Everest to attain this wisdom except getting rid of my wisdom tooth.

So, just ask yourself this:

Why can’t I be filled with immense gratitude day in-and-out that I leave no room for cribbing about smallest of puddles in life anymore?

I insist, I do not wake up cringing over the fact that I have a pile of work and I am running out of ways to brush them under the carpet. In fact, the part where I plan my day ahead is the most thrilling part for me. I love maintaining the to-do lists and when I check them out one by one along the week, its pure bliss.

I believe in this moment, I feel every cell of my body is alive in this moment for me to type this blog for you. Try feeling that connection.

Still wondering how is it possible to change things overnight with your boss or work life? It’s not.

But what’s possible is to take a step, or even half a step, and break that vicious relationship. In your head first.

Tip: In order to outshine a diamond, you have to be a solitaire.

So, hear me out.

Focus on your self, your energies, your craft and your dreams.

Do you know, the average person will spend 90,000 hours at work over a lifetime? And that’s a lot to invest into something you don’t feel happy about doing.

But at no point do I mean that you should be the Ranbir Kapoor of YJHD.

Super Tip: Do not take any plunge in life just because someone else did and it worked for them. That person is not you, period.

Firstly, master the art of being alive. Be thankful in each moment.

As for the work life? We will learn that on the ‘job’ called life.

Unlike any, this isn’t your ‘must be followed’ list but something that can be done without lifting a finger. So, give it a try maybe?

Start with Gratitude

Pause and observe around. Basically, start small.

Even Harry Potter didn’t have it all hunky dory despite being in Hogwarts, from where your letter is surely coming this year. 😜

I mean, its super simple to have an iota of gratitude about you having to wake up next to your loved ones, or simply having another day to change your today. Or to simply having to do that dance with your work-wife when your boss leaves early.

Believe in Karmic Retribution

Karma IS A Bitch! I won’t dilute this fact.

It is as simple as breathing. We will only inhale what we exhaled. And we breath every day, every second, not just on Fridays.

Not liking your day job is the effect you are witnessing. But what is the cause? Find that deep rooted cause and change it. The effect will automatically change and transform you.

Try this: Have you ever wondered how the same person can be the worse enemy for you and still manage to have best friends? Does it make you wonder how others don’t see their demon?

It’s a situation of feeding the lion. They bring out the best in them. And you? Well, you don’t please their positive side.

So, do not inflict the causes of their behaviour on them. Reflect on your actions that brought the lower side of them out.

Be Present for the Present

Are you truly happy to see running water in your tap? Well, it’s gonna get scarce very soon. So, cherish till it lasts.

Similarly, let your gift of life flow freely and cherish it while it does. Do not hold back any feelings and let them pierce through you. Too much holding might make your emotions evaporate.

Be there in each moment like you are about to receive a gift or better, you already did. See, how that energy will attract actual gifts, the materialistic ones that you desire.

But do not forget to be present for the ones that are already there. Again, be grateful for the present and the real present will emerge in your environment.

Mostly importantly, Have a sense of purpose for everything that you DO.

If you are celebrating Fridays, you need to rethink on your game called life. You seem to have already lost that purpose and its time you pick your pieces to rebuild it.

I hope I could pass on this extremely important message of life. I would like to express the deepest of gratitude to every one who read this article and I’d be more grateful if you share it with others.
